There is a rich resource on everyone’s doorstep. The history of the places where we live lies dormant in documents and in people’s memories. These can be the raw material for the artistic talents of a community to focus on. The lives of local people and the events which shaped their environment can find expression in celebratory art forms, such as songs, music, plays, exhibitions, dance, videos, CD-ROMs, websites and books, that can be a shared experience for all. This process of transformation and celebration we call Documentary Arts.
