Interview about memories of Bletchley and the railways.
John Parsons talks of his memories of steam trains when he was a boy: ‘the soot in your eyes’ and sitting on paper so that you wouldn’t feel sick. He notes that trains were the only form of transport for most people, at that time. While running his garage, in 1972, he recalls being called out on the day of a visit by the Flying Scotsman to Bletchley, to repair the old Bedford fire tender, which was needed that day to pump water from Simpson canal to the Flying Scotsman to get its steam up. Finally he talks of love of motor rallying and his membership of the Falcon Motor Club, production car trials locally at Brickhill and other events; he organises their annual national championship roundup.
