Interview with Derek Newland (b.1956).
Derek Newland was a union representative at Milton Keynes Development Corporation (MKDC). He recalls taking part in discussions about job evaluation and grading when additional monies were made available to MKDC. In particular he made the point of the dangers in many building jobs which involved heavy equipment, which in his view justified awarding the postholders higher grades.
