Illustrated postcard. Top third has a painting of a mountainous valley with a large rock rising from a river. This scene is labelled “COLLEEN BAWN ROCK, KILLARNEY”. Underneath image is a band with seven green ovals representing the weaving of a green ribbon which is tied in a bow on the right hand side. Bottom two thirds shows shamrock on a grey background. Top right of the shamrock is a gold edged shield containing a gold winged-maiden harp against a black background. Half of a Post Office frank from Stony Stratford is on the right hand edge of the postcard. The reverse of the postcard is addressed to Mrs Pittam, near Schools Castlethorpe Stoney Stratford Bucks and the message reads “14 Sand Hill Road Dear B & S Just a line hope you are all well and [warm?] I [?][?] I am in bed that all I’ve had a cold teeth ache all last [week?]but glad to say I feel better this week Dear [?] I will send you some apples [tomorrow?] if I can and that coat I have mended it [?] it I had a letter from [?] [?] this morning she has had a letter from [Will?] he is coming [?] [?] with them so many Dead thanks [led?] for card its the one” The card bears a green halfpenny stamp and is franked Northampton 10.15pm NO 29 10
