Black and white photographic postcard showing a hot air balloon in which images of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra have been inserted. The balloon basket bears the legend “Greetings from Bolton”. The image of the balloon has been placed as if moving over a public garden with ornamental flower beds. Four people are standing in the middle of the garden looking to camera. There is an heraldic shield at the bottom left of the card. At the bottom of the card is the legend Queens Park Flower Beds”. The card is addressed to Miss Mumford, 10 Chislehurst Road, Richmond, Surrey. It reads “Dear Daughter Just a line to say I received your kind and welcome letter safe this morning and thank you very much for it; it is due next wenesday the 29th it comes a day or two later than the other one did you must excuse this [P.C?] as I am a [field?] and I will write a letter next time I am glad Bill is got in work I am not obliged to believe all they tell me and you must please yourself about it so that he is steady and will work it [?] matter to anyone she please herself and you do the same with love from Mother”. The card is franked CHARLTON NORTHANTS JU 25 10.
