Coloured photographic postcard entitled “Entrance to Castle Grounds, Dudley” at bottom left. Image shows castle gates in grey stone surmounted by stone balls. Information about the Dudley Castle Fetes are posted on the left hand pillar including appearances by the Irish Guards and Fireworks. There are two grey gatehouses, the right one has ivy growing on it at ground floor level. There are woods beyond the gate and the castle keep shows just above the trees. To the front right of the gates is a statue of a robed dignitary in classic pose. The statue stands on a pink pillar and is surrounded by metal railings and bollards. A lamp post stands to the front left of the statue. The card is addressed to Mrs Pittam Castlethorpe Stony Stratford Bucks. The message reads “Dear [Nance?] Just a line to let you know I arrived safe Will be home on Monday [?]. The card is franked DUDLEY 3.10pm OC 24 08
