Oral history recording of his memories by Hawtin Mundy. Mr Mundy was a prisoner of war in East Prussia. This recording covers a trip he went on to Konigsberg with the shoe maker and his niece, he recalls there was little in the shops and that they didn’t pay for drinks, he believes he met a British spy. A few weeks after returning he starts work at the saw mill where he become friendly with the German running it and is allowed to move in and sleep there. He sneaks out one night to spend time with a woman. At the end of the war he is asked to go to Brazil with the owners son but refuses. Finally he recites the exhortation read at every remembrance service.
