Concert at The Stables
Film of a concert at The Stables, Wavendon, Milton Keynes held on the 15 November 1998. It begins with Humphrey Lyttletons band with vocals by Helen Shapiro and ends with Paul Carrack and band.
The film opens with Humphrey Lyttleton’s band playing “Shiny Stockings”, with vocals by Helen Shapiro. The band members are all dressed in casual wear and are on a stage in front of red and blue curtains.
00:05:30 They then play “Old familiar trouble called love”. This is followed by Helen Shapiro, Humphrey Lyttleton and the trombone player singing “Maybe” which continues straight into “Manhattan Transfer”.
00:10:59 The film cuts to an upbeat instrumental piece featuring a female sax player doing a solo piece and Humphrey playing the trumpet and then the clarinet. The then film cuts.
00:15:03 the film resumes with the band now dressed formally in blue shirts and white ties and jackets. They play various instrumental pieces including “Shiny Stockings” and Helen sings part of “Why don’t you do right?”. This is followed by a piano solo and Helen sings several lines of an unknown song. The audience applauds and Helen speaks to them.
00:22:43 The film cuts to the bar and bar tenders serve the public and there are scenes of the audience talking in small groups. Humphrey Lyttleton, in a white jacket, is shown signing autographs on CDs and books for the audience in the bar. There are shots of the people outside as well as inside the bar.
The film goes black at 00:27:44, resuming at 00:28:19 with Paul Carrack and band on the stage playing “Silent Running” followed by “Satisfied” and ending with “The way I’m feeling tonight”
