Media event "Dream" of the launch of red balloons from Queens Square
A 7 minute film shot in Queen’s court in Milton Keynes’ shopping centre of a balloon release. [Queens Court has been redesigned since this film was made]
The film starts by showing the Milton Keynes “Red Balloon” advert on a large screen. It was made in 1989 and features a red balloon release.
Next the camera pans over the fountain area, which is surrounded by members of the public. On the right hand side of the scene are two black tarpaulins. An announcer is giving a speech, the exact words are unclear. The camera records different shots of the court and the public. Some red balloons are shown around the pool area with a slogan printed on them: “The Great Milton Keynes balloon race”
00:02:47 after a countdown, a large number of red helium filled balloons are released from under one of the tarpaulins while the music from the advert is played in the background. A close up shot shows that the balloons have a message card attached to them. The scene shifts at one point to show the fountain jets in the pool and the audience before moving back to show the balloons dispersing in the sky. The big screen is replaying the advert.
00:04:48 the film cuts back to the audience and the second tarpaulin of balloons is released. We watch the balloons float away and scenes of the public whilst the music plays in the background. It cuts back to the screen where we see the end of the advert again, showing the red balloons being released. The announcer thanks everyone for coming to the event.
