The Ground Breaking Ceremony
The film begins with various Laing employees and officials arriving and speaking to each other. It includes a shot of the Milton Keynes Council flag in front of a crane and Kevin Whately talking to a reporter(?).
00:04:26 Kevin Whately speaks to the camera about how pleased he is that the Theatre project is about to begin after a long time waiting.
00:05:36 the film cuts to the speeches by John Laing; the mayor Valerie Squires and Kevin Whately. All talk about how important the theatre will be for Milton Keynes. John Laing concludes by asking people to ignore the fact work has already begun and invites them to witness the ground breaking ceremony.
00:15:14 the film cuts to show the Mayor presenting a red wooden box to Kevin Whately who thanks her. We then see Kevin Whately talking to people.
00:16:43 the film cuts to people walking over to a digger. Kevin Whately replaces the workman in the machine and the Mayor and the chair of the theatre panel, Paul, stand next to it. They are photographed by a number of photographers in different arrangements. After the photo session a worker instructs Kevin (00:20:48) on how to use the digger controls he then uses the digger to scoop up a quantity of earth. All present then walk away towards everyone else and there are scenes of people talking and having their photograph taken.
The last seven minutes of the film are scenes and of the construction work done so far with workmen working on the site.
