Piece to camera by Simon Callow about Milton Keynes Theatre filmed in the dressing room. He is about to perform ‘The Mystery of Charles Dickens` a one man play written by Peter Ackroyd. There are two takes.
At the start of the film we see Simon Callow’s reflection in the mirror but he turns after his opening and faces the camera. At the end he turns back to the mirror.
He talks initially about how this is his first chance to perform in Milton Keynes Theatre and how special performing in a one-man play is, he is interested to see how the stage reacts to his presence. He goes on to talk about the versatility of Milton Keynes Theatre, how it can accommodate a variety of different types of performance. He ends by talking in general about how to make a play successful and the interrelationship between the playwright, actor, theatre and audience.
