Internal and external views of work on Milton Keynes Theatre. Showing general views including flooring being laid, stage lights worked on and the installation of several artworks.
The film starts with interior shots of the installation of art work by Martin Craig-Martin depicting the creative activities within the theatre. It then cuts to inside the auditorium showing a painter working whilst classical music plays in the background. The film then cuts back to the welding work on Martin Craig-Martin’s artwork.
00:03:19 the film shows a woman working on an Edward Allington artwork. The film cuts to show the carpets being fitted.
00:09:18 the film shows workmen gathered around a table in the atrium, there is still scaffolding up. We see general views of the inside of the theatre and a plasterer at work.
00:11:41 work being done on the drawing of a map of the moon by Alison Turnbull.
00:13:36 the film cuts to inside the auditorium and shows general views of the stage, seating areas and ceiling. Workmen are working on different areas.
00:18:52 the film cuts back to the work on Alison Turnbull drawing. Then to two pieces of Edward Allingtons work and finally to Lilly Van der Stokkers mural.
00:23:04 inside the auditorium. Showing views from the stage of the ceiling and of men working on the stage and around the auditorium. We see empty boxes of light bulbs and the stage lights being worked on. The film cuts back to show general views of the foyer and a man dropping carpet off the balcony.
00:30:27 outside showing the landscaping areas being marked out.
00:31:49 we are taken back inside the foyer.
00:33:04 the film cuts back to the outside briefly before cutting back inside to see a painter in his overalls. We then see shots of painters, decorators and other workmen at work, including laminate flooring being laid.
