McC’s was set up to employ daughters of the LMS on the understanding that the company would do all the railway printing. JR’s father worked very long hours as the girls’ hours were restricted, especially during the war. Remembers ‘squatters’, older women sitting on piles of hand folded envelopes to press in the folds.
