Copy of a letter from Albert French to his sister May written in November or December 1915
Albert writes to May telling her that there is a lot of snow and it is very cold at present. They are doing military exercises and he had to lie flat for half an hour on the plain in a terrible cold cutting wind. Some of the men were groaning with cold but sang all the way home “Are we downhearted No-o-o-o’. Albert is just about getting used to the climate. They got back at about 10.30pm. He comments that Wolverton must be a wash out with the weather. He talks about Sid Johnson being home on leave and that leaves are not plentiful. He thanks May for the postal order, promises to write again and sends his love.
